So all the men of Israel were gathered against the city, knit together as one man. Neither did Naphtali drive out the inhabitants of Bethshemesh, nor the inhabitants of Bethanath; but he dwelt among the Canaanites, the inhabitants of the land: nevertheless the inhabitants of Bethshemesh and of Bethanath became tributaries unto them. And after him Ibzan of Bethlehem judged Israel. Then said Micah, Now know I that the LORD will do me good, seeing I have a Levite to my priest. And the people served the LORD all the days of Joshua, and all the days of the elders that outlived Joshua, who had seen all the great works of the LORD, that he did for Israel. And they passed thence unto mount Ephraim, and came unto the house of Micah.
And the children of Dan went their way: and when Micah saw that they were too strong for him, he turned and went back unto his house. And there came against Gibeah ten thousand chosen men out of all Israel, and the battle was sore: but they knew not that evil was near them. And the woman made haste, and ran, and shewed her husband, and said unto him, Behold, the man hath appeared unto me, that came unto me the other day. And it came to pass on the morrow, that the people went out into the field; and they told Abimelech.
