And Gaal the son of Ebed said, Who is Abimelech, and who is Shechem, that we should serve him? is not he the son of Jerubbaal? and Zebul his officer? serve the men of Hamor the father of Shechem: for why should we serve him? And would to God this people were under my hand! then would I remove Abimelech. And he said to Abimelech, Increase thine army, and come out. And they gave Hebron unto Caleb, as Moses said: and he expelled thence the three sons of Anak. And Samson lay till midnight, and arose at midnight, and took the doors of the gate of the city, and the two posts, and went away with them, bar and all, and put them upon his shoulders, and carried them up to the top of an hill that is before Hebron. And there was a young man out of Bethlehemjudah of the family of Judah, who was a Levite, and he sojourned there.

And Samson said unto them, Though ye have done this, yet will I be avenged of you, and after that I will cease. And Gideon the son of Joash returned from battle before the sun was up, And caught a young man of the men of Succoth, and enquired of him: and he described unto him the princes of Succoth, and the elders thereof, even threescore and seventeen men. And her husband arose, and went after her, to speak friendly unto her, and to bring her again, having his servant with him, and a couple of asses: and she brought him into her father’s house: and when the father of the damsel saw him, he rejoiced to meet him. So that all which fell that day of Benjamin were twenty and five thousand men that drew the sword; all these were men of valour. And it came to pass, when they saw him, that they brought thirty companions to be with him. And the Spirit of the LORD began to move him at times in the camp of Dan between Zorah and Eshtaol.
