Then all the men of Ephraim gathered themselves together, and took the waters unto Bethbarah and Jordan. And Jephthah said unto them, I and my people were at great strife with the children of Ammon; and when I called you, ye delivered me not out of their hands. And Gaal went out before the men of Shechem, and fought with Abimelech. And he went up thence to Penuel, and spake unto them likewise: and the men of Penuel answered him as the men of Succoth had answered him.

And Gideon said unto God, Let not thine anger be hot against me, and I will speak but this once: let me prove, I pray thee, but this once with the fleece; let it now be dry only upon the fleece, and upon all the ground let there be dew.

And Sisera gathered together all his chariots, even nine hundred chariots of iron, and all the people that were with him, from Harosheth of the Gentiles unto the river of Kishon. And when all the men of the tower of Shechem heard that, they entered into an hold of the house of the god Berith. And Samson said unto them, Though ye have done this, yet will I be avenged of you, and after that I will cease. Then Ehud went forth through the porch, and shut the doors of the parlour upon him, and locked them. Then went Abimelech to Thebez, and encamped against Thebez, and took it. And the angel of the LORD appeared unto him, and said unto him, The LORD is with thee, thou mighty man of valour.
