And the three hundred blew the trumpets, and the LORD set every man’s sword against his fellow, even throughout all the host: and the host fled to Bethshittah in Zererath, and to the border of Abelmeholah, unto Tabbath. And they tarried till they were ashamed: and, behold, he opened not the doors of the parlour; therefore they took a key, and opened them: and, behold, their lord was fallen down dead on the earth. And he brought the present unto Eglon king of Moab: and Eglon was a very fat man.
So the children of Israel served Eglon the king of Moab eighteen years. And his master said unto him, We will not turn aside hither into the city of a stranger, that is not of the children of Israel; we will pass over to Gibeah. And they put away the strange gods from among them, and served the LORD: and his soul was grieved for the misery of Israel. And the Spirit of the LORD began to move him at times in the camp of Dan between Zorah and Eshtaol. And God did so that night: for it was dry upon the fleece only, and there was dew on all the ground.
